McKenney died suddenly at her home in Richmond county Saturday, September 5th, having suffered a stroke of paralysis that morning. His wife, two brothers and one sister survive him. Much sympathy was expressed at his untimely death. Her son, Garrison Marks, a medical student of the University of Virginia, is dangerously ill with malarial fever. Marks, a prominent citizen of Naylors, Richmond county, died on the 17th of apoplexy after a brief illness of malarial fever. Edward Lyell, of Farnham, Richmond county, died Saturday afternoon in her home. Several mad dogs are at present at large in the county, and there is a great deal of excitement. Samuel Jones, a white citizen of Richmond county, died at his home near Warsaw last week with hydrophobia from a dog bit inflicted on election day. She is survived by her husband and four children. Carter Jenkins, of Ethel, Richmond county, died this afternoon at 2 o'clock of cancer of the stomach, aged about 45 years. He was known far and wide as once being the proprietor of the hotel now kept at Warsaw by the popular and versatile W.G. Harris, one of the oldest citizens of this district, was buried on Monday, he having died on Saturday night. Interment in Jerusalem Cemetery, at Emmerton. Hanks, aged about forty years, a merchant of Richmond County, died last week at his home near Sharps. Many relatives survive the deceased and we sympathize with them in their lamentations. Reynolds, pastor of Rappahannock Baptist Church, conducted the funeral services at the home of the deceased sister and concluded them at Rappahannock church, where her remains were interred on the afternoon of Saturday, February 3rd. We feel that our church and community have sustained the loss of one, whose precepts were worthy of our examples, not only in the past which can only be recalled by memory and lasting impressions but in the future, when we, perhaps shall mediate upon and consider her life as a worthy preceptress. She joined Rappahannock Baptist Church when she was eleven years of age and continued as a member thereof until her decease. Her amiability and proficiency as a public school teacher for several years throughout several counties of the Northern Neck, and her faithfulness as a church member and worker had won for her the confidence and good will of all who knew her. Fones, of Richmond county, died a few days ago. He was universally esteemed and this community will long cherish a recollection of his many virtues. He was a member of the Convention that revised the Constitution of this State. Campbell has been a practising lawyer for the last thirty years, and was, at the time of his death, Attorney for the commonwealth, for the counties of Lee, Scott, Russell, and Washington. ĭied - In this county, on Monday last, Edward Campbell, Esq., in the 52nd year of his age.
